In order to provide the best transportation in the Caribbean, our platform collects and uses some of your personal information. This Privacy Policy is here to help you understand how BeamX does that and how to exercise the choices and rights you have in your information.
At BeamX are committed to respect your personal information, thus we provide you ways to access and delete that information.
1. Scope
This policy is herein subject to our Terms of Service and applies to all BeamX users, including Riders and Drivers and apples to all of our platforms and services including our apps, websites, features and other services (collectively, the “BeamX Platform”).
2. The data we collect
We collect data that you provide, and information about your device.
2.1. Data you provide to us
Account Profile – We collect data when users create or update information you provide us, such as your name, email address, phone number, physical address, payment information, government identification documents, including driver’s license numbers and images, signature, and photo. You may choose to share additional info with us for your Rider profile, like your photo or saved addresses (e.g., home or work). This also includes vehicle or insurance information of drivers and user settings. We may use the photos submitted by drivers to verify their identities.
Background check and identity verification – We collect background check and identity verification information for drivers. Which may include certificate of character (where permitted by law) or driving history and right to work.
User Content – We collect data information when you users contact support and rate and provide feedback in regard to other users.
2.2. Data collected while using the BeamX platform
Location Information – We collect precise or approximate location information from user devices once the device permission allows it.
Riders – We collect your device’s precise location when you open and use the BeamX app, including while the app is running in the background from the time you request a ride until it ends.
Drivers – We collect your device’s precise location when you open and use the BeamX app, including while the app is running in the background once the driver availability mode is on.
Usage Information – We collect information about your use of the BeamX Platform, including ride information like the date, time, destination, distance, route, payment, and whether you used a promotional or referral code.
Communications data – We facilitate communications between riders and drivers through the BeamX mobile app by enabling drivers and riders to call or text each other (with disclosing their telephone numbers to each other at the moment).
2.3. Data collected from third parties
Safety and security – These include financial service providers, marketing providers, and other businesses.
Third Party Services and Sources – These include background check providers (where permitted by law), law enforcement, insurance partners, and pedestrians (for example, as part of an incident investigation or word of mouth referrals).
3. How personal data is used
We use the data we collect to:
– Provide features and services (The BeamX Platform)
– Provide customer support
– To improve and maintain the BeamX community
– To enhance safety and security of our services and users
– In connections to legal proceedings and obligations (Litigation)
– For research and development
Providing services and feature – To customise, maintain and improve our products and services as it relates to your Account creation and updating, identity verification, enabling transport services, automated processing for calculating charges, processing or enabling payment, tracking your ride, enabling feedback information to other users, troubleshooting software bugs, and analysing trends.
Customer support – To investigate and resolve complaints and disputes and improve customer support responses.
To improve and maintain the BeamX community – To allow a rider and driver to communicate and to provide information and updates on services, promos, and events.
Safety and security – To maintain the safety, security and integrity of our services and users (for example speed of drivers during provision of services), and driver background checks.
In connections to legal proceedings and obligations (Litigation) – To investigate or address claims or disputes relating to your use of Services or give data as required by law.
Research and development – To test research, analyse and drive product development (eg better payment platforms, improved and user friendly Account and APP features).
4. How we share and disclose your data
We do not sell your personal information. In order to the BeamX Platform work, we may be required to share your personal information with other users, third parties, affiliates, and service providers.
A. With other users
– To Driver – Rider’s name, photo, rating and contact information to rider, and rating. Upon pickup and during the ride, we share with the Driver the Rider’s destination and any additional stops the Rider inputs into the BeamX app.
– To Rider – Driver’s name, photo, rating, real-time location, and the vehicle colour, make, model, year and license plate.
B. At your request – Your Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) and location with a friend of a rider, at rider’s request.
C. Public Domain – On our Website, blogs or social media where a user gives feedback through these channels.
D. With service providers and business partners – Payment processors and facilitators, background checks, cloud storage providers, data analytics, legal, marketing & accounting service providers, and insurers.
E. For legal/litigation reasons. Where it is required to be shared by law or necessary for Company in any litigation matter to resolve a dispute or a claim.
F. With your consent – We may share your information other than as described in this policy if we notify you and you consent to sharing the information.
5. Data retention and deletion
We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide you and our other users the BeamX Platform. This means we keep your profile information for as long as you maintain an account. We retain transactional information such as rides and payments for at least five years to ensure we can perform legitimate business functions, such as accounting for tax obligations. If you request account deletion, we will delete your information as set forth in the “Deleting Your Account” section below.
We take reasonable and appropriate measures designed to protect your personal information. But no security measures can be 100% effective, and we cannot guarantee the security of your information, including against unauthorized intrusions or acts by third parties.
6. Your rights and choices towards your data
BeamX provides you ways to access and delete some of your personal data and as well as to exercise other data rights that give you specific control over your personal information. Information about your rights regarding all users are provided below:
Email Subscriptions – You can always unsubscribe from our commercial or promotional emails by clicking unsubscribe in those messages. We will still send you transactional and relational emails about your use of the BeamX Platform.
Push Notifications – You can opt out of receiving push notifications through your device settings. Please note that opting out of receiving push notifications may impact your use of the BeamX Platform (such as receiving a notification that your ride has arrived).
Profile Information – You can review and edit certain account information you have chosen to add to your profile by logging in to the BeamX app and reviewing your account settings and profile.
Location Information – You can prevent your device from sharing location information through your device’s system settings. But if you do, this may impact BeamX’s ability to provide you our full range of features and services.
Cookie Tracking – You can modify your cookie settings on your browser, but if you delete or choose not to accept our cookies, you may be missing out on certain features of the BeamX Platform.
Do Not Track – Your browser may offer you a “Do Not Track” option, which allows you to signal to operators of websites and web applications and services that you do not want them to track your online activities. The BeamX Platform does not currently support Do Not Track requests at this time.
7. Children’s data
BeamX is not directed to children, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we find out that a child under 13 has given us personal information, we will take steps to delete that information. If you believe that a child under the age of 13 has given us personal information, please contact us at our Help Center.
8. Links to Third Party Sources
The BeamX Platform may contain links to third-party sources (websites). Those sources may have privacy policies that differ from ours. We are not responsible for those sources, and we recommend that you review their policies. Please contact those sources directly if you have any questions about their privacy policies.
9. Updates to this notice
We may update this policy from time to time as the BeamX Platform changes and privacy law evolves. If we update it, we will do so online, and if we make material changes, we will let you know through the BeamX Platform or by some other method of communication like email. When you use BeamX, you are agreeing to the most recent terms of this policy.
